Ariza Ensures Face-to-Face Learning Trial Preparation Runs Optimally

Jakarta Government starts to implement limited face-to-face learning trial in 85 schools from elementary to high school levels on Wednesday (4/7). This teaching and learning activities are in accordance with Jakarta Gubernatorial Decree No. 405/2021 on Extension of Micro-Scale Restrictions on Community Activity (PPKM Mikro).

Jakarta Vice Governor, Ahmad Riza Patria (Ariza) explained, face-to-face learning trial will be carried out until the next two months.

"This trial can convince us that everyone can prepare it well. We all hope teachers and students can follow it well. If it is successful, we will consider to expand it. Once again, I ask for support for limited school opening trial with blended learning, both online and offline," he conveyed at Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday (4/6) night.

According to him, communication with various related agencies has been running optimally. He ensured central government supported this trial program which prioritize COVID-19 protocols. Regarding elementary school students' understanding about health protocols, he assessed, it becomes duty of teachers, parents, and all parties who understand it to explain it to them.

"We need to convince children that implementing health protocols is not difficult. It is enough to make them understand how to wear mask, wash hands, and maintain safe distance," he mentioned.

Although, he admitted, some parents seemed hesitant to support this trial. But his side ensured that government doesn't impose it since it concerns individual health.

"The decision is up to the parents since it is their rights whether to allow it or not. We will also listen their opinions," he said.

For information, government has accelerated COVID-19 vaccination for teachers. Elderly teachers are prioritized to take vaccination. Vaccination program for teachers has been implemented since end of March and now is still ongoing.
